Stella Artois
Stella Artois is a Pilsner: it is "low fermented" at a low temperature and the yeast naturally settles on the bottom of the vat. If pale malt is used, a completely clear, golden beer results. The first beer made by this method was brewed in 1843 in Pilsen, a town in Bohemia, which was then still part of the Austrian Empire but now lies in the Czech Republic. Clarity was a big advantage at that time because factory-made glasses were starting to replace tin goblets and earthenware mugs. Stella Artois is a delicate, hoppy beer, with a fine hop aroma and subtle bitterness during drinking and in the aftertaste. It is the world's best selling Belgian beer, enjoyed in more than 80 countries around the world. Alc Vol 5.2%. |

Speights Gold Medal AleSpeights was founded by James Speight, Charles Greenslade, and William Dawson. Speight's was first brewed on 4 April 1876 in Dunedin at the present Rattray St site. Since then the Speight's brand has been firmly planted in the deep south of New Zealand. This beer encapsulates the needs of the thirsty yet discerning Southern Men. Probably the least sweet of all New Zealand mainstream brown beers, this characteristic allows the full flavour of the malt and hops to shine through. Most drinkers will detect a hint of 'grassy' undertones that add to the complexity of this proud beer. Alc Vol 4% |
